Hey sweetheart, how was your day?
For so many hours you were away.
I searched for you far and nearby.
I looked for you up in the sky.
When I got too tired to search,
I rested awhile on that pigeon’s perch.
Look, I gathered something to eat
and splashed some water on my feet.
I’ve been waiting for you all evening.
Glad you’re back, my dearest darling!
Now it’s time for us to return.
Another day’s work is fruitfully done
Whether it’s bad or fair weather
separation only makes us get together.

The Bees

The Bees

The garden is in full bloom-
thorns guarding roses.
Distinct floral perfume,
pleases our hungry noses.
Birds and insects are busy
with a pleasure Spring trek.
Yet the bees seem nosy,
giving each flower a little peck.
They pick the prettiest of all,
with petals most delicate.
Though the bees are small,
they have abilities innate.
They collect the finest nectar
to make the sweetest honey.
A bee is an active pollinator
that doesn’t work for money!

Busy Birds

Busy bustle of weekday morning
A break between classes
A yawn followed by some stretching
Putting down sweaty glasses
As I come near the window ledge
The pool sparkles in the sun
A pair of pigeons sat on the edge
Having a serious conversation
They bob their heads in dissent
Preen their feathers to look nice
Coo if they luckily assent
Flap wings in the water to entice
They can talk without words
Argue without any sound
I love to see the busy birds
They never fail to astound

Little joys of nature for me
Birds measuring the sky in parts
Puffy clouds floating free
The changing twilight skyline
bright streaks spread far and wide
The setting sun bright clementine
Moon emerging like a shy bride
The squirrel scrambling for treats
The butterfly kissing new flowers
The ants marching on the streets
Dragonflies in summer showers
Nature has abundance of treasure
For those who search little delights

in nature’s simple sights

The Bridge to Elysium

Seekers searching for bliss
don’t really want to miss
a chance or divine medium
to reach the bridge to Elysium

We pursue what we can’t see
yearn for immortality
dream of a Dreamland
and try to grip slipping sand

Although it’s tough to decide
why grass is greener on the other side
But who is there to blame
All mortals are the same

What we have isn’t ever enough
And the competition is too tough
So at the end of each millennium
We still seek the bridge to Elysium.

Sometimes it will be bright. 
Sometimes it will be grey. 
The mornings will still have light, 
no matter where you stay. 

Sometimes you'll see the moon. 
Sometimes it'll wane away. 
The sight can still make you swoon, 
no matter where you stay. 

Sometimes it'll feel bit light. 
Sometimes it'll seem to weigh. 
Life goes on so you'll be alright, 
no matter where you stay. 

You'll stumble, you'll fall, yet stand again. 
You'll find yourself someday. 
Wounds do heal - time lessens the pain, 
no matter where you stay.

Let’s hide

Let’s hide

Closed eyes open the doors of the mind –
Memories mischievously peep from behind.

Black and white flashbacks turn many-hued,
when Bougainvilleas play Spring’s prelude

As flaming red merged with drizzles of white,
creating a flurry of magenta so bright.

Ever wondered at hummingbirds and bees?
How do they endure the thorns with ease?

Crushed bracts often left me red-handed.
Curious fingers got ‘Bougainvillea branded’.

A lost voice often resonates within me,
Let’s hide again under the Bougainvillea tree.

The Jellyfish

The Jellyfish

Drifting in the grey sea
Floating along the swell
Listless seemed to me
The critter made of gel

Curious, I searched online
And this is what I know
The jellyfish thrives in brine
They are glassy and hollow

No lungs to help breathe
No heart that beats in sync
No blood flowing beneath
No brain to let it think

Yet it carries the hum of the sea
In its non existent heart
Unperturbed, its will is free
and it’s hope doesn’t fall apart

It propels itself to the surface
while tentacles act like roots
The jellyfish floats with grace
drifting in dreamy pursuits.
