Love For Food

Love for Food

Weekends work as catalyst
to incite our hidden craving.
Fingers curl into the fist…
Umm…chicken wings are enticing!
That pizza with overflowing cheese.
That burger with French fries.
This heart doesn’t feel any unease
as good food needs no disguise.
Love for food is bona fide –
only those who agree understand.
It’s so hard to select and decide –
cravings do get out of hand.
Lucky are those who place the order
before they get sold out.
But night owls like me have to suffer…
Unlucky foodies can only pout!

Get Together

Get Together

Hey sweetheart, how was your day?
For so many hours you were away.
I searched for you far and nearby.
I looked for you up in the sky.
When I got too tired to search,
I rested awhile on that pigeon’s perch.
Look, I gathered something to eat
and splashed some water on my feet.
I’ve been waiting for you all evening.
Glad you’re back, my dearest darling!
Now it’s time for us to return.
Another day’s work is fruitfully done
Whether it’s bad or fair weather
separation only makes us get together.

Change might unchange

Change might unchange

“Do you have any change?
I came to buy some groceries.
Seeing such a wide range,
Im short of a few pennies.
Now I need to get a cart
to carry the items to the car.
They will soon close the mart
and my home is quite far.”
Will you help a stranger in need
if you ever encounter one?
Or with certain people accede,
compassion is owed to none.
Kindness is a rare virtue,
if your conscience is still alive.
Change might unchange too,
if humanity wants to thrive.

The Bees

The Bees

The garden is in full bloom-
thorns guarding roses.
Distinct floral perfume,
pleases our hungry noses.
Birds and insects are busy
with a pleasure Spring trek.
Yet the bees seem nosy,
giving each flower a little peck.
They pick the prettiest of all,
with petals most delicate.
Though the bees are small,
they have abilities innate.
They collect the finest nectar
to make the sweetest honey.
A bee is an active pollinator
that doesn’t work for money!

Busy Birds

Busy Birds

Busy bustle of weekday morning
A break between classes
A yawn followed by some stretching
Putting down sweaty glasses
As I come near the window ledge
The pool sparkles in the sun
A pair of pigeons sat on the edge
Having a serious conversation
They bob their heads in dissent
Preen their feathers to look nice
Coo if they luckily assent
Flap wings in the water to entice
They can talk without words
Argue without any sound
I love to see the busy birds
They never fail to astound

First steps

First steps

Babies throw their hands and feet
as if throwing punches in the air.
Then they try with all their might
to turn over without any fear
They balance with their elbows,
raise themselves on their knees
put their palms before their feet,
and move forward with unease.
First they crawl as far as possible,
then raise up their hand for aid.
They hold onto whatever they can
and succeed to stand unafraid
The future holds many first steps
if you’re unafraid of a fresh start
Starting over doesn’t mean you lost
if you have courage in your heart

Portrait of Words

Portrait of Words

Sitting in the warm Spring breeze
I try to draw a portrait of words
The exhausted sky looks at ease
smiling at returning birds
A few twinkling stars in the sky
City lights blinking bright
My shadow is asking me why
my curious feet are quiet
I smile a bit, I stroll and stop
I feel time silently flow
I stare around from the rooftop
While the city buzzes below
I often hear what I can't see
The spirit of silence
Darkness introduces to me
My heart's silent cadence

What might warm up our hearts?

What might warm up our hearts?

What might warm up our hearts?
Little joys of nature for me
Birds measuring the sky in parts
Puffy clouds floating free
The changing twilight skyline
bright streaks spread far and wide
The setting sun bright clementine
Moon emerging like a shy bride
The squirrel scrambling for treats
The butterfly kissing new flowers
The ants marching on the streets
Dragonflies in summer showers
Nature has abundance of treasure
For those who search little delights
I, for one, seek solace and pleasure
in nature’s simple sights

Almost Baked

Almost Baked

The little boy loves chocolate
Craves for sweet things
Picks up a shiny clean plate
And tries to pull some strings
All he wants is a big piece of cake
Loaded with chocolate cream
So Mommy's gonna bake
The delicious cake of his dream
The oven smells amazing
The baking is almost done
Can anything be more tempting
Than a piece cake for everyone?
