What might warm up our hearts?

What might warm up our hearts?

What might warm up our hearts?
Little joys of nature for me
Birds measuring the sky in parts
Puffy clouds floating free
The changing twilight skyline
bright streaks spread far and wide
The setting sun bright clementine
Moon emerging like a shy bride
The squirrel scrambling for treats
The butterfly kissing new flowers
The ants marching on the streets
Dragonflies in summer showers
Nature has abundance of treasure
For those who search little delights
I, for one, seek solace and pleasure
in nature’s simple sights

Almost Baked

Almost Baked

The little boy loves chocolate
Craves for sweet things
Picks up a shiny clean plate
And tries to pull some strings
All he wants is a big piece of cake
Loaded with chocolate cream
So Mommy's gonna bake
The delicious cake of his dream
The oven smells amazing
The baking is almost done
Can anything be more tempting
Than a piece cake for everyone?

Regrets

Regrets

Those unkept words
Unfulfilled promises
Unrealised dreams
Fading memories
Plagued by regrets
We keep moving on
Striving to survive
in limited time and means
Climbing the stairs
reaching somewhere
Spirit dead or alive
Who can tell the difference?

The Burning Star

The Burning Star

Light travels faster than sound
The sun brightens the universe
reaches where no one’s around
only heavenly objects traverse
Warms the planets near and far
life thrives in the blue sphere
The indestructible burning star
spreads light everywhere.
At times like a naughty child
plays hide and seek with the moon
The galaxies seem wild
when the stars sigh and swoon

The Bridge to Elysium

The Bridge to Elysium

Seekers searching for bliss
don’t really want to miss
a chance or divine medium
to reach the bridge to Elysium

We pursue what we can’t see
yearn for immortality
dream of a Dreamland
and try to grip slipping sand

Although it’s tough to decide
why grass is greener on the other side
But who is there to blame
All mortals are the same

What we have isn’t ever enough
And the competition is too tough
So at the end of each millennium
We still seek the bridge to Elysium.

Invention of Words

2021 April PAD Challenge Countdown: T-minus 6
For today’s prompt, write an invention poem.

Invention of Words

Gestures would have seemed strange
Stranger would have sounded a bark
If evolution had not brought a change
Talking would’ve been a question mark.
I’m ever grateful to the person
who invented the use of words
We got an important reason
for not being part of wild herds.
Now we can speak our mind
Or even write what’s left unsaid
If actions are unwittingly confined
Words can be used instead

No Matter Where

No Matter Where
( From Boyzone's "No Matter What")

Sometimes it will be bright.
Sometimes it will be grey.
The mornings will still have light,
no matter where you stay.

Sometimes you'll see the moon.
Sometimes it'll wane away.
The sight can still make you swoon,
no matter where you stay.

Sometimes it'll feel bit light.
Sometimes it'll seem to weigh.
Life goes on so you'll be alright,
no matter where you stay.

You'll stumble, you'll fall, yet stand again.
You'll find yourself someday.
Wounds do heal - time lessens the pain,
no matter where you stay.

I Want to be a Unicorn

Photo credit – WordPress free photo library

I want to be a Unicorn,
with pinkish purple hair,
a pair of wings and golden horn.
I want to fly anywhere.

I want to sleep on a fluffy cloud,
sip a cup of crystal rain.
And swish my tail- naughty and proud,
put my hooves up in the air again.

Where bored trees could take a walk.
Where flowers won’t wilt away.
Where bees and butterflies could talk,
and stars twinkle on the path all day.

If there were such a fantasy land,
where happy thoughts are born.
Though it’s a myth I understand,
still I want to be a Unicorn.
