If I had a pair of wings!

If I had a pair of wings,
then I will love to fly.
I will pack few things
and glide in the sky.
I’ll map the sandy shore
and hover over the boat.
When the waves will roar,
I’ll sing a calming note.
I’ll race with the fish
or settle like the shells.
And with the dusk’s windy swish
return where my heart dwells.

The Halcyon Bird

The Halcyon Bird

I caught a bright flash of blue –
cerulean than the sea and sky.
Surprised and curious too –
my feet froze, i don’t know why.

There sat seemingly ruminating,
the heavenly Halcyon Bird.
Maybe majestically contemplating,
it is on which part of the world.

Perhaps it was missing a stream,
or a river that sang along the way.
Maybe it was sad about a broken dream,
or a flashback of a memorable day.

With a breast of orange like a sunset
and the azure of the vast sky.
I know in my heart, i shall never forget,
the Kingfisher that caught my eye!
